Welcome back Warriors!
I hope you and your family are healthy and safe. It’s hard to believe this will be Pat’s Warriors 9th Les Turner ALS Foundation Walk for Life!
2020 has certainly been one for the record books! As I’m sure you’ve already realized, this year's Walk for Life is going virtual. While we so looked forward to seeing everyone at Soldier Field on walk day, our safety is our number one priority. The virtual format still allows Pat’s Warriors to do what we do best . . . . . celebrate Pat’s memory, honor those living with ALS, fundraise to help find a cure and continue to spread hope and courage. The virtual walk will be held Saturday, September 26th.
People living with ALS are at an increased risk of respiratory problems associated with viral and bacterial infections. The Coronavirus outbreak has brought an added layer of stress to our ALS community. As we’ve come to expect, the Les Turner ALS Foundation hasn’t skipped a beat in providing the services our ALS family have come to rely on. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation took swift action. A COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund was established. This fund provides immediate help to families with ALS to cover the cost of basic needs such as sanitizing cleaner, food delivery, groceries and more. Additionally, the fund will cover ALS-related costs such as surgical masks, gloves, respiratory supplies and over-the counter medications. The Foundation’s Support Services Team continues to provide the most comprehensive support and care through telehealth visits.
As you can see, the Foundation has added to their repertoire, so our families have what they need to navigate their ALS journey. As we keep Pat’s spirit close to our heart, we continue to fight his battle. Every year we walk, we’re making a difference in the fight against ALS. Let’s continue to use our strength, our passion and our dedication to reach our goal of a world free of ALS. And let's all remain hopeful!
