ALS is still here so we're still raising money!
Thanks for checking into my page!
UPDATE!!! Once again our friends Vince and Pat Foglia, through their Foglia Family Foundation, will very generously match any donations our team raises, up to $50,000!!! But we've gotta give them something to match, people! I need your help!
A lot has changed since I first met my buddy, Paul Launer, November of 2012. Our mutual friend, Bob Lee, introduced us because Paul was looking for someone to write things down he wanted to leave for his then elementary-school aged daughters, Aubrey and Sarah. Thus began our friendship and two year project! The biggest thing that HASN'T changed, though, is that we still have to find a cure for ALS and we still have folks living with ALS to help--whether it be through respite care, nursing assistance, communication equipment assistance, social worker assistance . . . you name it. If donating towards patient care is your thing, we've got you. Research? The foundation runs four- FOUR- world-class labs at Northwestern trying to find a cure. I visited them one weeknight following a Les Turner board meeting and personally witnessed labs humming with activity, passion and dedication at 8:30 pm. World-renowned scientists. So humbling.
As you probably know Paul lost his hard-fought battle with ALS on July 3, 2015. We started Paul Launer's Iron Horse Brigade for the 2013 ALS Walk for Life, with this year marking our 7th anniversary as a team and the 42nd anniversary of the Les Turner ALS Foundation. We're very proud to be able to report that our team has raised $567,054 to date- OVER HALF A MILLION DOLLARS- with help from many of you. This year Dave and I have donated $1,000- which is enough to fund a communication device for patients to use once they've lost their ability to speak- imagine that, me helping others to "talk" :) This equipment was essential to Paul in those last couple of years.
Sadly, ALS stories continue. We need to find a cure. We're revving up our Paul Launer's Iron Horse Brigade Team once again--with Paul's daughter Aubrey Launer as Captain! "She is da captain now" :) Let's all show her some love and support! If YOU'D like to join our team we would be grateful to have you. The Walk is on Sunday, 9/15/19 and it's downtown at Soldier Field. This is a beautiful, inspirational event that starts at 11:00- and because it's only a 2 mile walk you're done pretty quickly. Make a family day out of it!
So please help. Please join. Give generously if you can, though I greatly appreciate any and all donations!
