Welcome to My Personal Page
I will be running the Strike Out ALS 5K at US Cellular Field on July 17th to raise awareness and donations to help find a cure for ALS. The money raised from this event funds research at Northwestern Hospital to work toward a cure for my mom and everyone else suffering from this horrible disease, as well as helping to provide care for Chicago area ALS patients. Private donations are critical to finding a cure for this disease as pharmaceutical companies do not fund the research & development of potential treatments as the cost outweighs the potential profits for them. There is some promising research out there putting the Ice Bucket Challenge money from the summer of 2014 to good use, but researchers need more funding and resources at their disposal to keep the momentum going.
What makes ALS particularly devastating is that there is no hope if you get this diagnosis. There is no medication, surgery, therapy, or other treatment option to slow this disease. When it hits, it hits hard and fast. There is, however, hope for a future without ALS as awareness and donations have increased in the past few years. My mom's doctors said that there would be a cure by now if the funding had always been there. With people's generosity, that could become a reality. I ask that you please consider donating to help me reach my goal of $1,000 for this event. Thank you!
