Why I'm Running
I have joined Team Race for ALS and will participate in the 2019 Bank of America Chicago Marathon of behalf of the Les Turner ALS Foundation. This is my second year participating in Team Race for ALS. In 2001, we lost my mom in her battle against ALS, so I understand first hand the importance of the work the foundation does to help patients and families dealing with this terrible disease.
I believe in the work of the Les Turner ALS Foundation providing the best possible care and support for local patients and families. Without their help, the equipment they provided, and the support that was available, the difficult task of taking care of my mom, would have been almost impossible. So many causes support research, this one also supports current patients.
This is my second year running the Chicago Marathon for Team Race for ALS, and I have 2 goals. The first is to raise more money than last year so that more patients and families can get the support they need. The second is more personal - I'd like to improve my finish time, because I'm running for those that can't.
