Dan's 2019 Chicago Marathon Team Les Turner ALS Fundraising Page
I am participating in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon as part of Team Race for ALS because I believe in the mission of the Les Turner ALS Foundation. Les Turner helped my sisters and I provide care and support for my mom from the time she was diagnosed with ALS until she passed in 2016. This cause is important to me and I'd greatly appreciate your support of my efforts.
I am running this race in mom's memory, and am determined to use it to not only better myself, but also provide support to Les Turner so that they can in turn provide support to people struggling with ALS and caring for those who have it.
In the US, every 90 minutes someone is diganosed with ALS and someone dies of ALS. There is no known cure for ALS and, once diagnosed, patientis typically live only three to five years. These are alarming fact about ALS, but we can help change the course of the disease and ensure that progress is made towards finding life-enhancing treatments and a cure.
Despite the steep obstacles that receiving an ALS diagnosis poses, help and hope are within reach. Founded in 1977, the Les Turner ALS Foundation is a leader in comprehensive ALS care. Although they're one of the largest independent ALS groups in the country, they treat each person like family and are commited to supporting them every step of the way.
I would like to turn the favor that was given to us towards promoting and helping the organization that helped us. Every dollar donated goes to helping and supporting those affected by ALS, whether it is the patient or their families.
Please consider making a donation to help me reach my fundraising goal. Together, we can make an impact and create a world free of ALS.
