2019 ALS Walk for Life

Scavotto Squad
Last year, our father was diagnosed with ALS, a disease to which there is currently no cure. We were, and are, devastated by the news and what it means for our family, as we watch our dad, the one who raised us and taught us so much, go through something so terrible. And yet even in difficult days, in pain and in grief, we are inspired by how he has fought this disease every day, as well as how our mom has been there with him every step of the way.
ALS is a disease that deserves to be defeated. It causes pain and it takes away freedom and ability, affecting over 5,000 people in the U.S. every year. And so to honor our dad, to help fight back, and to spread awareness, we are participating in the ALS Walk for Life in Chicago. This event supports the Les Turner Association, which has helped our dad and many others with ALS in the Chicago area by providing support, resources, and research towards defeating this disease.
If you’d like to support us, there are several ways you can do that.
- First, you could walk with us Sunday, September 15th in Chicago.
- Second, you could make a donation and help us meet our fundraising goal.
- Third, you can help spread awareness by sharing this post.
- And fourth, if you pray, you could keep our mom and dad in your prayers as they go through this difficult time.
Help us be part of the solution to ALS. To learn more about ALS or the Les Turner Foundation, you can go to lesturnerals.org.
