My world was forever changed when my mother, Marian Ward, was diagnosed with ALS. This relentless disease gradually took her away from me, robbing her of the ability to perform even the most basic tasks we often take for granted. It was heartbreaking to witness her lose her independence, and I miss her dearly every day.
