Hello all,

This year I am running the Chicago Marathon for the Les Turner ALS Foundation in honor of Elizabeth’s grandpa, Grandpa Casey, who was diagnosed with and passed away from ALS in 2006.

As you may or may not know, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a rare neurological disease that affects the brain and spinal cord and voluntary muscle movement.  As the disease progresses it can impact all types of movement including walking, chewing, and even talking. It is vital to donate to the Les Turner Foundation as they continue to support families, conduct research, and hopefully one day end this debilitating disease.

Fast forward to 2023, where I relatively recently accepted a position as a physical therapist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and now have the opportunity to work in their ALS Clinic.  My role in the ALS clinic is to monitor patients throughout their lives since diagnosis and assist in managing their symptoms functional changes in mobility, and make recommendations for assistive devices, orthotics, and home exercises as needed.

Please consider making a donation to help me reach my fundraising goal. Together, we can make an impact and create a world free of ALS.

Thank you for your support!

- Alex
