Welcome to My Personal Fundraising Page
Welcome to my Chicago Marathon 2024 fundraising page in support of the Les Turner ALS Foundation. This cause is deeply personal to me. In March 2023, my brother Jonathan Poll was diagnosed with ALS. In less than a year, ALS has stolen his ability to use his hands, greatly affected his speech, and taken a toll on his mobility. Did you know the lifetime risk of developing ALS is just 1 in 300? There is no known cure for ALS and, once diagnosed, patients typically live only two to five years. These are alarming facts about ALS, but we can help change the course of the disease and ensure that progress is made towards finding life-enhancing treatments and a cure.
Witnessing this progression firsthand has been incredibly challenging for our family. It's especially heartbreaking for Jonathan, who was a chef and used his hands to create culinary masterpieces. Now, even the simplest tasks are impossible. He requires help to do everything.
This marathon isn't just about running; it's a race against time to raise funds and awareness for ALS research and support. Join me in making a difference. Let's turn our strides into progress and work towards a future without ALS. Every contribution matters, and together, we can bring hope and support to those facing this relentless disease. Thank you for joining us on this journey.
Please consider making a donation to help me reach my fundraising goal. Together, we can make an impact and create a world free of ALS.
