This year, our team, onWard to a Cure, will be back again for our 7th time participating in the 2024 ALS Walk for Life at Soldier Field on September 14th. We believe in the mission of the Les Turner ALS Foundation and we want to support all ALS patients and their families.

Marian Ward's battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) came to an end in October 2020, after courageously fighting since her diagnosis in March 2018.  We miss her every day but she continues to inspire us as we carry her in our hearts.  Nothing was more important to her than her husband, Jim, her four children, James, Terry, Mark, and Grace, daughters in law, Kim, Kelly, and Lara, and grand children, Paige, Mia, Luke, Colleen, and Charlotte. Marian spent nearly 40 years as a nurse, mostly in home health care. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish in Orland Park, and taught Religious Education to the children and teens for over 25 years.

Marian benefitted greatly from the Les Turner Foundation. The support from a large team of health care professionals at Northwestern Hospital’s Neurology Department is more than comprehensive. She received regular home visits from a nurse and social worker. It is a wonderful organization that not only fights for a cure for ALS, but also helps improve the quality of life of ALS patients. Our family is grateful for their service and support as they made a huge impact on Marian's life after her diagnosis.
