I'm Christopher and I need your help. Let's fight ALS, together.
Friendships in adulthood have a special place in my heart. Childhood friendships have the glue of history to keep us together. Adult friends make more effort, dedicate more energy to set and keep their intentions to be friends. One of my most special friends in adulthood has been watching the love of her life suffer the effects of ALS for the last four years. She's been forced to make the noble and terrible choice to transition from lover to carepartner at the hands of this merciless disease. My friends have forged a different partnership than they ever imagined dealing with this terminal illness.
I became a marathoner at 50 without ever running competitively in my life. I've raised money for the LGBTQIA community; for kids with disabilities who want to play sports; and now for sufferers of ALS and their families.
Did you know the lifetime risk of developing ALS is just 1 in 300? There is no known cure for ALS and, once diagnosed, patients typically live only three to five years. These are alarming facts about ALS, but we can help change the course of the disease and ensure that progress is made towards finding life-enhancing treatments and a cure.
The Les Turner ALS Foundation is here to care for those affected by the disease, answer their questions and support them and their loved ones every step of their journey.
I am participating in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon as part of Team Race for ALS because I believe in the mission of the Les Turner ALS Foundation! I believe in providing the best possible care to people living with ALS and their families in the Chicagoland area and I believe that the funds we raise together will lead to a cure for ALS. This cause is important to me and I’d greatly appreciate your support of my efforts.
Please consider making a donation to help me reach my fundraising goal. Together, we can make an impact and create a world free of ALS.
